Samsung W599, the Latest Dual SIM Phone

Samsung unveiled these days another dual SIM mobile phone, Samsung W599 (or Samsung SCH-W599), which will first be launched in China. The South Korean company seems to give
a special attention to dual SIM devices, as these are currently very popular in Asia and they could also become "wanted" in Europe and the US.

The new W599 comes in a compact candybar form factor, and its navigation keys are interestingly integrated as to form a circle. The phone does not have a hardware keypad, hence most of the data input is made through its 2.4 inch touchscreen display with 260K colors, a QVGA (240 x 320) resolution and handwriting recognition. Samsung W599 can operate on both CDMA and GSM networks and comes with dual SIM technology, allowing you to use two SIM cards at the same time, just like you would have owned two phones. Except these more than welcome features, Samsung W599 also offers FM radio, Music and Video players, Bluetooth, email, Instant Messaging, Wap browser, a 2 Megapixel camera, embedded games, 34MB of internal memory and microSD card support for several extra GBs. The phone measures 103.1 x 53 x 16.4 millimeters and includes a 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide a decent talk-time / stand-by time.

Samsung W599 will soon be available across China, branded under the AnyCall series, for a retail price of 4,490 yuan. This means around $640 or 405 Euro, which is kind of expensive. But then again, most of the dual-SIM handsets have a "higher than normal" price, and W599 is far from being an entry-level device after all.

Motorola M990 Smart Rider Phone

Motorola Launched today a new M990 Smart Rider phone. Strange as it is to believe, Motorola have developed a fixed carphone. This device is specifically designed to be installed in a car. It spotted in an FCC approval document, is described as a GSM high tier fixed mobile car phone and is a quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE handset with integrated GPS and Bluetooth.

The FCC documentation describes it as “targeted to a broad band of markets looking for exclusivity like business men, limousines and private cars looking for stylish communication and navigation solution, which seems a pretty unusual and old-fashioned brief.The Moto M990 is a strange looking device, has a wide 2.8-inch colored display screen that has the resolution of 320×240 pixels.

The device comes with full GPS navigation system.The navigation system has integrated traffic reports and features real-time rerouting. Moto M990 is a car phone with the dimensions of 137×85mm and weight of 400 grams.

It also features an advanced voice recognition system that can be used for dialling calls or handset control, Bluetooth, an email client, web browser and quad-band GSM with GPRS and EDGE data support.

The M990 itself connects to all the other components via an “Octopus Cable”. This means that the M990 will usually require a professional installation. The handset itself can be unplugged from the cable, so it can be removed from the car or truck when not in use.

Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 1680 classic

Besides the Nokia 5000, Nokia introduced the new Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 1680 classic handsets for emerging markets on 2 April 2008. these two handsets are targeted at consumers who are looking for a good value phone that still has plenty of useful features, while looking smart at the same time.A common feature the four new phones have, besides being affordable, is the fact that they all come with support for dual-band GSM networks (either 900/1800 MHz or 850/1900 MHz), hence they can work almost anywhere in the world, since GSM is the global standard for mobile networks.Features of the Nokia 2680 slide include an FM radio with recording capability, MP3 ringtones, and a VGA resolution camera. Nokia 7070 Prism

Besides Nokia 5000, Nokia also introduced 3 more other new mobile phones at the Growing Together 2008 conference held in Johannesburg on 2 April 2008: Nokia 2680 slide, Nokia 7070 Prism and Nokia 1680 classic.

The Nokia 7070 Prism is a stylish and very inexpensive fashion phone, and is the third handset in Nokia’s quirky “Prism” series. The Nokia 7070 Prism sells for only 50 Euro (~$78) before subsidies and taxes.The Nokia 7070 Prism has a 128 x 160 pixel TFT display, an indicator light on the outside, it supports GPRS for basic web browsing and it has an email client too. The Nokia 7070 Prism offers personalized content, including themes and wallpapers, and MP3-grade ringtones. Other features of the 7070 Prism include voice recorder and integrated hands-free speaker. The internal memory is 11MB which is a fair amount for a basic phone.

There’s no camera or multimedia player, and the Nokia 7070 Prism doesn’t support Bluetooth.
